How does Guitar Hero developers split the different tracks (e.g. guitar/bass, drums, vocals etc.) of a song?

Are these tracks recorded by the developers themselves or do they actually use songs and split the tracks? If recorded, how do they manage to get such realistic voice similarity to the actual songs for vocals? I don’t think that it would be possible to record the vocals to that high of standard. Any ideas anyone?

I think they get the studio session files with the split tracks from the bands’ engineers. When that’s not possible they can get the song recreated.

There is no software that really splits up tracks besides the new version of Melodyne that is not out yet. Apparently it can seperate instruments but it doesn’t sound as perfect as just having the original split tracks.

For example, if you remove a vocal, you may lose some of the guitar tones too because it is in a similar frequency range. That program is gonna be amazing though!
